USPIE demands accountability for teachers mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination

The so-called educators who have made disgusting, inappropriate comments about this murder of an outspoken Christian conservative showed they are not fit to be teaching children.

Although most political leaders on both sides of the aisle have mourned the assassination of Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk, some people have actually celebrated the murder.

Kirk, 31, who had been answering a question about transgender-related violence when he was shot, left behind a wife and two young children. Various commentators expressed glee over the tragedy.

This vile group includes radical teachers. The so-called educators who have made disgusting, inappropriate comments about this murder of an outspoken Christian conservative showed they are not fit to be teaching children.

Some suggest that the call to fire people for hateful speech undermines free speech. Yes, the Constitution protects freedom of speech from government retaliation, but employers are perfectly within their rights to terminate people who demonstrate incredibly bad judgment.

In a recent article, the Christian Post listed several government schoolteachers who have faced professional consequences and public outrage for their statements mocking Kirk’s killing. Here are some of them, from screenshots shared by Libs of TikTok on X:

A Facebook post by Middle Tennessee State University Associate Dean of Students, Laura Sosh-Lightsy, on Sept. 10, declared “Looks like ol’ Charlie spoke his fate into existence,” adding that she had “ZERO sympathy” for his murder because “hate begets hate.”

A Facebook post by Patrick Freivald, a teacher at Naples Central School District in Naples, New York, celebrating Kirk’s murder by proclaiming “Good riddance to bad garbage.”

An Instagram post from AnneMarie Donahue, a teacher at Wachusett Regional High School in Massachusetts, reacting to Kirk’s death by posting on Instagram, “We’re NOT offering sympathy.”

Employees of government schools should be held to an especially high standard of judgment and discernment since they are entrusted with oversight of children and young adults. Expeditious termination is absolutely appropriate in such cases.

United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE) is a nonprofit, nationwide coalition that is fighting to return education to its proper local roots and restore parental authority over their children’s education by helping parents and local communities to escape federal and other national influences. It is the vision of USPIE to create a culture where parents, empowered with the authority to choose what and how their children learn, are the undisputed primary educators of their children, where local schools operate in support of families, and where education is unencumbered by federal mandates.

USPIE’s powerful documentary, “Truth & Lies in American Education,” addresses some of the most glaring issues in the American education system and equips parents to make a change in their local school district for the betterment of their children. The film follows Few’s daughter-in-law, April, as she seeks to learn more about the system she was planning on exposing to her own children and learns the shocking truth. “Truth & Lies in American Education” is available for streaming on SalemNOW, as well available on DVD.
