Despite 11 federal charges and $3 million funneled to extremists, SPLC materials still train teachers

The breadth of this is astounding and disturbing, but not surprising. The SPLC has had its claws sunk deeply for years into much of what passes for teacher education‍ ‍

Despite being outed as a corrupt, leftist organization that secretly funded hate groups while raising millions of dollars ostensibly fighting them, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is still firmly entrenched in America’s teacher colleges.

The SPLC’s educational materials are being used to train future K-12 teachers in 38 states, according to a new report from Defending Education, an education watchdog that the SPLC once labeled as an “extremist” group, according to Fox News.

“Researchers examined 100 colleges of education and uncovered SPLC’s Learning for Justice, formerly Teaching Tolerance, and the group’s Social Justice Standards embedded into teacher preparation programs nationwide,” Fox News states.

The breadth of this is astounding and disturbing, but not surprising. ‍ ‍

For years, the SPLC has had its claws sunk deeply into much of what passes for teacher education. What’s more, the SPLC has smeared many Christian and conservative groups by placing them on its ‘hate map’ alongside real extremists such as the Ku Klux Klan and Neo-Nazi groups.‍ ‍

In April, a federal grand jury indicted the SPLC on 11 charges, including wire fraud, false statements and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

“Between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC secretly funneled more than $3 million in donated funds to individuals who were associated with various violent extremist groups,” the U.S. Department of Justice said.

The Trump administration and Congress are working now to root out the SPLC’s poisonous influence in federal agencies and programs. This group has no business being anywhere near the educational system.

According to the report, SPLC’s Social Justice Standards are integrated into teacher preparation programs that include “Equity, Access, and Anti-bias Education,” “Teaching for Social Justice,” “Critical Consciousness” and “Socially Just Teachers.”

The materials were found in mandated education courses, teacher candidate handbooks, student teacher evaluations, lesson planning assignments, departmental frameworks and professional development for educators.

This is an important story. It shows that despite laws in many states outlawing the teaching of this trope of leftist material, the indoctrination of teachers continues. Teachers are taught that they are the experts, which helps them justify teaching perspectives that conflict with the beliefs of most parents and communities in our country.

To escape this indoctrination, parents need to take their kids out of government schools!
