New Jersey legislator gets Millstone of the Month award from USPIE for attacking homeschoolers

New Jersey Assemblyman Sterley S. Stanley (D-Middlesex County) has sponsored a bill that forces homeschool parents to teach their children using the same dumbed-down standards and bizarre ideologies as government schools.

The idea is to block all exits, that is, to build an educational Berlin Wall that keeps kids entrapped in government schools where they can be indoctrinated.

For this egregious attack on parental rights, United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE) conveys our August 2025 Millstone of the Month award on Mr. Stanley.

This has been the game plan all along for teachers’ unions and their Democrat enablers. Leftists at all levels are never interested in tolerance. They want to use the power of the state to force their nonsense on everyone, and especially on conscientious parents who are trying to protect their kids from woke propaganda.

USPIE’s Millstone of the Month award is given to the person involved in government schools who has committed the most egregious acts against children. These individuals have taken steps to funnel wokeness and other harmful pedagogies into America’s classrooms.

Stanley’s bill would mean that “homeschool students would be forcibly subjected to dangerous propaganda on everything from ‘climate change,’ race-mongering, and fake history to homosexuality and transgenderism,” wrote Liberty Sentinel Media CEO Alex Newman. “To graduate, families would have to prove they complied.”

Assembly Bill 5825 “would force home educators to register with the government and hand over large amounts of private information. As The Newman Report revealed when New Jersey’s Common Core-aligned scheme was adopted in 2020, the state’s ‘Learning Standards’ are among the most radical in the nation,” Newman wrote. “They were developed with key input from sex fiends, perverts, abortionists, including Planned Parenthood, and more.

“Under the bill, not only will parents have to teach what the government demands, they will have to keep records proving to the government that the children were properly indoctrinated.”

The larger message here is that any government involvement in education is poisonous. Government-sponsored school choice will lead to this kind of regulation, although Mr. Stanley is showing that the coercive force of government can come even without government money. Thank God there are watchdogs like Alex Newman and Liberty Sentinel that keep us apprised so that USPIE can warn parents.

Some of this stuff is so bad that if we didn’t have the documented proof, people might think we were making it up. But it’s all too real. Parents need to get their kids out of the government schools.
