North Carolina schools push gender ideology on kids in defiance of state law
USPIE’s Michigan PIE President and Board Member: ‘Parents, be warned. Teachers and administrators are ignoring state laws passed to protect children from harmful gender ideology’
Educators in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City, North Carolina, schools were called to a hearing recently by state legislators for continuing to indoctrinate children on gender and sexuality, in defiance of established state law.
Teachers are acting in defiance of The Parents Bill of Rights (SB-39), which state voters approved and was enacted into law in 2023 over the veto of Democrat Gov. Roy Cooper.
The law established that schools must notify parents if a child changes his or her name or pronouns, the beginning acts of social transition for gender change, the Federalist reported.
It also prohibits schools from teaching about gender identity, sexual activity and sexuality until the fifth grade, and allows parents to review and object to textbooks and instructional materials, among other things.
Parents, be warned. Teachers and administrators are ignoring state laws passed to protect children from harmful gender ideology. These people honestly believe it is their obligation to teach very young children that they can change the body they were born into.
This Federalist article suggests passing new laws with real consequences is the solution. However, passing new bills will take time, as will the implementation, including charges, arrests, fines or other consequences. Your children do not have time. Every minute they spend with these people, they’re in harm’s way.”
North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Newby ruled in Happell v. Guilford County Board of Education that parental rights regarding their children’s health care concerns are a fundamental right the state cannot override.
Guilford County School Board Chairman George Griffin insisted that these schools were in compliance because they “instituted guidelines” for having a “guided conversation with the child.” But he boasted at a hearing that the board voted not to enforce certain provisions that would have “legitimized discrimination.”
Join the thousands of parents across the country who have taken their kids out of government schools to homeschool, on their own dime,” Kurdys said. “Do it now while your child’s innocence is still intact!
