ACCME chair receives January Millstone of the Month Award for reversing course on gender dysphoria

Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education’s actions undermine the medical community’s ability to respond appropriately to children desperately in need of protection from life-changing, body-destroying drugs and surgeries.

United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE) has awarded its January Millstone on the Month Award to Annette Mallory Donawa, chair of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

In response to an emotional blog complaint, the ACCME initiated an investigation into the credibility of a well-researched, science-based course on appropriate medical treatment for sexually confused children.

ACCME’s response undermines scientific research and gives credibility to drama over science. No scientific claim was made against the course material. Worse, ACCME’s actions undermine the medical community’s ability to respond appropriately to children desperately in need of protection from life-changing, body-destroying drugs and surgeries.

The Millstone of the Month award is given to the person involved in government schools who has committed the most egregious acts against children. These individuals have taken steps to funnel wokeness and other harmful pedagogies into America’s classrooms.

The January award was triggered by ACCME’s heavy-handed, non-scientific quashing of a course at Washington State University that was giving kids alternatives to gender transition treatments.

All it took was one transgender’s complaint for ACCME to launch a probe that wound up canceling this vital course.

The “International Perspectives on Evidence-Based Treatment for Gender Dysphoric Youth” course is part of a continuing medical education (CME) series meant for doctors to stay attuned to the ever-changing medical field post-graduation, according to The Daily Caller. “The course’s purpose was to explore alternative treatments for ‘gender-questioning youth’ outside of hormonal interventions, using data from nations that have banned chemical therapies due to safety concerns.

“The Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine (SEGM) spent more than a year developing the course, which WSU accredited after a detailed review process, but its removal at the insistence of angry activists was more than swift.”

“Less than an hour after the transgender activism blog Erin In The Morning complained to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and published a scathing post attacking the university for its decision to accredit a course created by an ‘Anti-Trans Hate Group,’ ACCME opened a formal inquiry in response.

“WSU notified SEGM that due to the inquiry, course materials had been suspended and learners would no longer have access to the modules,” the Daily Caller said.

This is par for the course for the educational establishment, which has bent over backwards to push every perverse policy under the sun. Parents need to avoid government schools at every level.
